She recently visited Melissa Giacione in Boston. Their children are the same age. Christine also keeps in touch with Emevey Deyo ’93, who also lives in Atlanta. Jennifer Dane Strong and her husband Dan live in Hickory, North Carolina. She started working as a physical therapist for a local school system now that their two children are getting to be school aged. Recently, Jennifer has been in contact with Steve Hitzrot and Jessica Cline Immich. Scott O’Connell wrote from Edwards, Colorado, that he has been raising his family in the Rocky Mountains. He has a new job and has enjoyed more time skiing. He finds that “powder is therapeutic.” Kathryn Torello wrote from Salt Lake City to let us know that she appeared on local ABC Utah Morning TV Show several times as an expert on DIY “Paint Projects & Wall Finishes.” She continues to grow her specialty wall finish business. Margaret Marchese wrote from Milford, Massachusetts, that she and her husband, Jason, have two sons, Zachary and Matthew. Stewart Jester recently moved to the Chicago area in Glenview, Illinois. He has two children, Simia and Kian. Benjamin Newman let us know that he and his wife Amy welcomed their son, Wakeland Gabriel Newman, into the world on December 20, 2007. He and Amy were married on September 1, 2007 in Stowe, Vermont. UVM (and Slade Hall) alumni at the wedding included best man Ned Harris as well as Kara DeLeonardis, Heather Pembrook, Jane Newton Kunin, Mary Brosnan, David Rosenstein, Dana Monsein, Brian Oestriech, Justin Brown, and Jennifer Russell. Other UVM grads there were Tom Pichler, Aeron Green Jackson, Leo Vecchione, Al Vecchione, Susannah Noel, Mike Searles, and Nick Rubin. Both Ben and Amy work as archetypal dreamworkers at North of Eden (www.northofeden.com). In addition, Ben is clinical coordinator for the New School of Montpelier. He continues to do a radio show every other Tuesday night on WRUV, where he’s been a disc jockey since 1990. Keith Stevens wrote, “After a two-year assignment in Saint Louis with Washington University School of Medicine, where I started a division of clinical research in the department of obstetrics and gynecology, I decided I missed the East Coast. In January 2008 we moved to New York City, and I joined Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons as the director of clinical research for the department of surgery. In April, I was appointed interim executive director of the clinical trials office.” Admittedly, I’m writing this column just before the 4th of July, so it can be printed in time for the fall, but I’m doing it in style…sitting on a porch overlooking Salt Pond on Block Island, Rhode Island, at sunset, Long Trail in hand. My husband, Tim, and I have enjoyed renting a house here over the summer for years. We’ve been fortunate enough to bump into a few UVMers. We always see Sands Payne, who still helps run one of his family’s marinas here. Tim and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary on September 19. We have three wonderful kids, Teagan, Cade, and Keira. I hope you all had a wonderful summer and your fall is fabulous, too. Please keep the updates coming. We all love hearing from you.

I hope this edition of the Vermont Quarterly finds you all enjoying the last days of summer and reliving all the great memories from Reunion Weekend! Our five-year reunion started with a gathering event at Taste. Friday night was full of small reunions as we made our way to our first stop, Red Square, where we had quite a turnout with stories and laughing overheard at every corner. Next stop was What Ales You, and it was almost like we had never left. The last stop of the night was Rasputins, and the class of ‘03 quickly made their way to the dance floor and ended the night in style. Our class received the Milk Can, an award given to the class with the highest reunion attendance. Taste provided all the amenities we could have asked for—great food, great drinks and an even better atmosphere. All of the feedback the reunion committee received was overwhelmingly positive, and we hope that everyone had as much fun as we did. On behalf of our reunion committee, Nathaniel Sillin, Cara Linehan, Steph Waterman and me, we’d like to give a big thank you to those of you who donated to our class gift and made the trek to Burlington to celebrate with us. We missed those of you who couldn’t make it, and we hope to see all of you in 2013 for our 10th reunion. In other news: Jennifer Geisz Hettrick married Krystopher Hettrick ‘04 on May 17, 2008, in Meriden, Connecticut. Fellow UVMers and Alpha Delta Pi sisters in attendance were Betsey Nelson Pelletier, Polly Young, Jaime Pawluk, Hillary Plant Williams, Timony Nicholson, Ali Toth, Lauren MacInnis, Elizabeth Sicard, Natalie Lorrence Jackson, Melissa Randall Chan ‘04 and Adam Dubin ‘04. Jennifer is a registered nurse with VNA Services in Hamden, Connecticut, and Krys is currently attending the Police Academy in Meriden, Connecticut, soon to be a police officer at Southern Connecticut State University. Jennifer and Krys now make their home in West Haven, Connecticut. Sarah Tetzlaff and her fiancé have purchased a house in Orwell, Vermont, near the lake. They completely renovated it in preparation for their wedding on July 28, 2007. Beginning this fall, Sarah will be teaching family and consumer sciences at Rutland High School. I look forward to receiving many more updates from all of you soon. I never had an opportunity to write down the updates I heard from all of you at reunion, so please email them to me for the next issue of Vermont Quarterly. Cheers!
