Leadership Positions
The council consists of four committees and each committee is headed by a Vice President (VP); the VPs make up a majority of the Eboard, which is governed by the Class Council President. Applicants for President must submit a supplemental application and complete an interview to be considered for the position. Vice Presidents do not require a supplemental application but will be elected by the general board during a scheduled meeting this semester. No prior experience with class councils is necessary—everyone is encouraged to apply.

Vice President of Alumni Affairs & Class Gift

The President of the Class Council is the leader of the organization. This person coordinates and facilitates all Executive Board and General Board meetings. The President has an opportunity to connect and network with UVM alumni via the Alumni Association Board of Directors meetings and works closely with the Class Council Advisor and other council presidents. The President does not chair a committee, but does serve on the Alumni Affairs & Class Gift Committee.
Responsibilities Include:- Plan and facilitate bi-weekly executive board meetings.
- Plan and facilitate weekly or bi-weekly general council meetings.
- Maintain a minimum of 5 office hours in Grasse Mount each week.
- Coordinate two council development activities (DEVOs) with the executive board (one each semester).
- Manage one council-wide project each semester.
- Monitor and aid in the progress of the four council committees.
- Serve as public representative of council.
- Aid in planning and hosting council retreats.
- Oversee planning and implementation of class activities and gift solicitation.
- Serve as a member of the UVM Alumni Association Board of Directors and attend Alumni Association Board of Directors meetings (once each semester).
- Maintain links between the class, Development and Alumni Relations, and the Student Government Association.
- Attend weekly meetings with the other Class Council Presidents.
- Meet weekly with advisor.
- Meet weekly or biweekly with executive board members.
- Sit on the Class Council Alumni Affairs and Class Gift Committee.
- Attend additional committee meetings, as needed.
- Experience working with and leading groups/organizations.

For fulfillment of their responsibilities, Class Council Presidents will receive $1000 each semester.
Vice President of Alumni Affairs & Class Gift
The Vice President of Alumni Affairs & Class Gift oversees many of the legacies your class will leave here at UVM. This person plans and implements programs and initiatives designed to generate additional funds for the class gift and oversees the development and execution of an annual/traditional event. This vice president oversees and manages the Alumni Affairs & Class Gift Committee, the duties of which are listed below.
Position Responsibilities Include:- Chair Alumni Affairs & Class Gift Committee.
- Chair weekly or bi-weekly committee meetings.
- Serve on Class Council Executive Board.
- Serve as second-in-command when president is not able to fulfill duties.
- Monitor progress of funds raised and donor count.
- Meet weekly with advisor.
- Develop relationships with both staff in Development and Alumni Relations and alumni.
- Select alumni liaison: The alumni liaison will become acquainted with the day-to-day operations of the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) and will build partnerships with the office. The liaison will meet with individuals in the office to understand their roles, will attend division wide staff meetings, and will attend at least one Alumni and Parent Programs meeting per semester. The liaison will coordinate activities, events, and communication efforts to inform his/her class on alumni affairs.
- Generate at least two class gift ideas and continue to build a detailed portfolio of possible senior gifts.
- Create and or amend the council constitution and enforce the policies outlined therein.
- Coordinate peer solicitations and kick-off and closing events for gift campaign efforts.
- Coordinate informational campaigns for the gift effort, informing students of the class gift, the philosophy behind the gift, and why giving is beneficial.
- Work collaboratively with other council committees to create a traditional event.
- Coordinate events with alumni.

Vice President of Class Identity
The Vice President of Class Identity oversees many of the programs designed to bring the entire class together and foster a sense of camaraderie and class spirit. This person identifies the needs of the class and plans creative programs based on those needs. This programming is not limited to social events, but also includes multicultural and diversity events as well as cultural programming. This vice president oversees and manages the Class Identity Committee, the duties of which are listed below.
Position Responsibilities Include:- Chair Class Identity Committee.
- Chair weekly or bi-weekly committee meetings.
- Oversee all social programming of the council.
- Serve on Class Council Executive Board.
- Train committee on how to plan events, use university services (reserving space and catering), evaluate program success, etc.
- Meet weekly with advisor.
- Plan social events: Spearhead the planning of regular social events. Some examples might include a class night downtown, a bowling night, or an apple-picking field trip.
- Coordinate athletic events for class: Develop a relationship with the director of marketing in athletics and facilitate the planning of any athletic-related events.
- Plan multicultural events: Develop a relationship with the ALANA Student Center, the LGBTQA Services office, the Center for Cultural Pluralism, and other multicultural organizations to plan events for the class as a whole.
- Plan cultural events: Coordinate class and council participation in campus plays, musical events, art exhibits, etc.
- Plan council development activities (DEVOs) for the entire council.

Vice President of Communications
The Vice President of Communications is responsible for not only the campus image of the Council but also for managing clear lines of information transmission throughout the council itself (e.g. taking and sending out meeting minutes). This person is responsible for publicity of events and programs, which may include, but is not limited to, posters, banners, Facebook postings, and emails to the entire class. This vice president oversees and manages the Communications Committee, the duties of which are listed below.
Position Responsibilities Include:- Chair the Communications Committee.
- Chair weekly or bi-weekly committee meetings.
- Take minutes of full council meetings and exec meetings and send to council.
- Gather items before each meeting and create an agenda for meetings as requested by the President.
- Facilitate the creation and enforcement of the attendance policy.
- Serve on Class Council Executive Board.
- Meet weekly with advisor.
- Approve/edit communications to the class and send final communications to advisor.
- Select recruitment chair: The recruitment chair, with advisors, coordinates outreach, publicity, interviews, rubrics, and selection of incoming council members.
- Select Web chair: This position will update the Web site weekly.
- Coordinate publicity: Create flyers, table tents, posters, painted sheets, chalking, publication in campus newspapers, and other forms of printed, tangible publicity.
- Coordinate newsletters and emails: Coordinate class-wide bi-weekly emails and newsletters. Coordinate publicity in the SGA email, the campus calendar, Facebook and other Web publicity.
- Create logos: Design t-shirts, Senior Week glass, etc.

Vice President of Community Development
The Vice President of Community Development works with several other campus offices to get the class involved and invested in other communities here at UVM and in Burlington. In addition to working closely with other offices, this person oversees and manages the budget for the council and maintains a close working relationship with SGA representatives. This vice president oversees and manages the Community Development Committee, the duties of which are listed below.
Position Responsibilities Include:- Chair the Community Development Committee.
- Chair weekly or bi-weekly committee meetings.
- Oversee events for the development of the class and community.
- Meet weekly with advisor.
- Maintain the council's budget and expenditures.
- Serve as the liaison to SGA.
- Serve on Class Council Executive Board.
- Lead fundraising efforts for operations of council (separate from class gift efforts).
- Select career chair: This position develops a relationship with the Career Connections staff and helps to publicize career-related events.
- Plan community service events: Spearhead community service events both for the class and council in order to give back to the Burlington and Vermont communities.
- Plan academic events: Coordinate academic events for the class.
- Outreach: Outreach to campus clubs and organizations to initiate support of campus-wide events. Encourage council members to attend ongoing events. Encourage partnerships with other groups to plan co-sponsored events.
- Plan health and wellbeing events: Develop a relationship with offices within the Center for Health and Wellbeing in order to plan health-encouraging events for the class.
