Over 4,000 parents, students, alumni, and friends participated in activities during Homecoming & Family Weekend 2008. In 4 short days, over 100 indoor and outdoor events took place, including lectures, tours, open houses, athletic events, concerts and exhibits.
Highlights from the weekend included:
- Taste of Vermont celebration, featuring the Amber deLaurentis Band and free samplings of Vermont products. Over 700 attended this inaugural event under the Homecoming tent.
- UVM’s Finest Hour, featuring lectures by George V. Kidder Faculty Award recipients, drew over 1,000 participants.
- Anita Diamant, best-selling author of The Red Tent, spoke on Sunday at Ira Allen Chapel.
- Homecoming Parade and Family Picnic
- Soul Food Social, sponsored by the Black Student Union, hosted over 450 attendees
- Homecoming Fun Run
- Concerts all weekend
- Cruises on Lake Champlain
