Undergraduate Scholarship
UVM's undergraduates are a diverse and extraordinary group: bright, industrious, and energetic and ambitious. They will leave their imprint on UVM and then on the world they find after graduation. They will be business leaders, teachers, and artists. They will invent new technologies, find cures, and write novels.
Private scholarship support is crucial to our ability to attract and retain the best and the brightest of this student body. Helping students in need has allowed many to attain an education that would otherwise have been beyond their means. Most of our undergraduate students receive financial help through loans, work/study jobs, and scholarships. Yet we lose many students because we have lagged behind other institutions in our capacity to provide scholarships.
Many donors have chosen to support UVM by establishing scholarship funds. Some want to repay a debt, whether one of gratitude or simply "giving back" the support that helped them get through school. Some want to honor a loved one, friend or mentor. Some want to see that students from a particular community or field of study are helped.
Helping students through a scholarship fund can be one of the most rewarding gifts a person can make. It allows the donor to see their gift in action. Some donors come to campus each year to meet the recipients. And many of those who have received aid continue to stay in touch long after they have left UVM.
An endowed scholarship fund can be established with a gift of $25,000 and up.
