Library Acquisition Fund
At the heart of any academic community is its library. Scholars, researchers, and students rely on library materials to provide the intellectual context for their work--from historical perspective to current debate. UVM's libraries contribute to teaching, learning, and research by providing essential information sources, ranging from books and scholarly journals to electronic databases and images.
Endowed library information resources funds are encouraged when a donor can give $10,000 or more or, in some cases, when a smaller amount is given with the understanding that more will be given in the future. An endowed named library resources fund provides in perpetuity for the annual purchase of books or electronic materials that reflect the interests of the honoree and the needs of UVM's libraries. Endowed funds can also be designated for one of the individual libraries and are used to support the variety of subject areas within that library. Expendable funds also benefit the libraries. Such gifts often come as a memorial from family and friends or in recognition of some honor or achievement. Endowed or expendable funds can also be used to provide for the electronic distribution of library information, to upgrade library equipment, or to provide for the preservation of historic or heavily used library materials.
