Max Ansbacher ’57
SERVICE: Max Ansbacher has been a devoted alumni leader at UVM for many years. He is a member of the New York Regional Board and, as chair of the successful New York Regional Campaign, served as master of ceremonies at the elegant New York Regional Campaign kickoff held at the American Museum of Natural History. Throughout the Campaign he worked hard on UVM’s behalf to solicit increased gifts from alumni, parents, and friends in the New York area — an effort that resulted in more than $20 million raised toward the Campaign’s $250 million goal. As co-chair of the class of ’57 reunion gift committee, Max spearheaded the effort to raise funds in support of the University from among his classmates during the year leading up to their reunion. Always willing to go “above and beyond” on behalf of his alma mater, Max presented a talk on the financial markets and financial planning for alumni and guests attending his last reunion. He also serves on the Fleming Museum Board of Advisors. Max holds a degree in English from UVM, Bachelor of Law degree from Yale University, and a Master of Law degree from New York University. He heads Ansbacher Investment Management and is the author of three books on investing.

He was tapped to serve on the UVM Board of Trustees as a gubernatorial appointment in 2001 and will complete his term in 2011. His strong ties to the University as an alumnus prompted his selection to serve as Alumni Association President. He has always gone beyond what has been asked of him in that capacity, always ready to represent and promote the University to alumni, parents, students, and the community at large. Frank took on the role of co-chair of The Campaign for the University of Vermont within the state of Vermont with his trademark success. He has pursued a remarkable career as president of the board of directors of the Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation, helping to create sustainable economic opportunities for thousands of Vermonters now and for generations to come.
