May 1, 2004 Boston, MA

UVM Live All Night at Union St. was a great success! About 70 alums and their friends showed up for a great show performed by NYC band M-Lab, followed by our very own UVM alumn band, Redletter. Alums of all ages were in attendance, from the '90's, 80's and one alumn from 1978 who was still very much a recent grad at heart! Lots of smiling faces and chatter filled the room and people danced and did not leave until the lights came on.

A special thank you to Kathy Varpahovsky and the Boston Events Committee for planning this event and to Shannon Croce '00 who helped with registration. As people left they took "Proud of UVM" pins and UVM pens, proving that there is still a lot of school spirit in the Boston area! View Photos from the event.

America - Target for Terrorism
Speaker Series Presentation by Professor Gregory Gause
February 5, 2004

What are the causes for the turmoil in the Middle East and why is the United States a target for terrorists? These are some of the questions that Professor Gregory Gause, associate professor of political science, addressed at a speaker series event held recently at Boston's Brae Burn Country Club. Gause is a world-renowned expert on the Middle East and the Director of UVM's Middle East Studies Program. The nearly one hundred attendees participated in a lively question and answer session following Professor Gause's presentation.

Brady Leisenring scored twice, including Vermont's first short-handed goal of the season, and Jeff Miles added a goal and an assist as the Catamounts extended their winning streak to five games, defeating Harvard, 6-4 at the Bright Hockey Center. The game was a wild, wide-open affair that saw Vermont score three times on a power play and once shorthanded. Decked out in green and gold, the UVM faithful seemed to outnumber Harvard fans at this annual gathering. After the game UVMers gathered with Coach Sneddon and players for complimentary appetizers and drinks. Go Cats Go!

Welcome to Boston Bash at the Bell in Hand
October 16, 2003 Boston, MA

Would the "Welcome to Boston" event be a smashing success or a dismal failure? After all, the Red Sox were facing the Yankees in game seven of the playoffs at the same time. Would people venture out of their living rooms and away from their TVs for some food and friends at the Bell in Hand at Faneuil Hall? Well, these are UVM alumni we're talking about, and they showed up in full force on Thursday, October 16, to catch up with friends old and new and later to cheer on the Sox. It was a fabulous evening, and none of the 75 attendees left disappointed (outcome of the game notwithstanding).

Thank you to the Boston events committee for organizing this great event.
