Alumni Chapters

Starting a Chapter?

1. Become a Regional Coordinator
Contact the Alumni Office (802-656-2010) to become the Regional Coordinator for your new chapter. We'll send you a list of alumni in your area so you can see how many UVMers are there. As Coordinator, you will be added to the list on this web site and periodically in the Vermont Quarterly as the contact for your area, and you will be the main contact for the Alumni Office as well.

2.  Form a Committee
The best way to get other UVMers involved are to invite alums to attend a planning meeting or to hold a kick-off event that will draw potential volunteers. Generally, chapters with less than 1,000 alums organize two events annually, and larger chapters will have three to five events each year.

3. Plan an Event
Use your creativity and host an event you think alumni in your area will find appealing. See our Ideas page for some hints.

The Lone Ranger
No area is too small to support a chapter! We have successful events in areas with fewer than 200 alumni, such as Hawaii and Montana, where one terrific Regional Coordinator is the "Lone Ranger." Usually the Regional Coordinator plans one event a year; it is not even necessary to form a committee. Every chapter gives more and more alumni the opportunity to build life-long relationships with each other and UVM.

That Something Special
Perhaps hosting an event isn't your cup of tea. Do you have a special venue to offer or have a connection to someone who would make an interesting special guest? We invite you to share your ideas with the Alumni Office and your local UVM Alumni Chapter!
