As the University implements an enrollment strategy to grow the student body gradually over the next decade, work has begun to expand and upgrade campus facilities in preparation. Extensive renovations were completed to residence hall rooms in the Living/Learning Center, and site work is under way on the University Heights 800-bed student residential complex. A three-tiered parking garage is under construction at Gutterson and slated for completion by January 2005. Planning continues for the University Commons, a 200,000-square-foot student union and new "front door" to the campus and to Burlington that is expected to transform the UVM experience for campus and community alike.
